Has anyone built a fly rod with the Minima guides? Any thoughts?
Thanks, George Re: Minima Guides for a fly rod?

I have. It's been in use for a couple months now and I like it a great deal. These guides weigh roughly 20% less than similar sized ceramics. Because the ring openings are larger per size, you can drop one size and, keep the same ring opening and effectively increase weight savings to about 35% or more. I had recorded the weights somewhere but can't remember where I put them. But I do recall the percentage differences.
The only thing about them that I don't like, is the noise when line moves across them. They're loud, like snakes or wire guides. If you've never fished ceramics on a fly rod you won't notice this noise. If you have, you may find it bothersome at first, but you'll soon get used to it. At this point I won't put anything other than Minima guides on any fly rods I build. ............. Re: Minima Guides for a fly rod?

Same experience here - a little "noisy" but worth the weight reduction on light fly rods. I think I'll probably continue to use the American Tackle "ring locks" on heavy (8wt plus) rods for now. Re: Minima Guides for a fly rod?

I no longer maintain that site. 2 submissions in the last 2 years just don't warrant it!! Everyone wanted the info, but unfortunately, those that have it don't seem to want to publicly share it! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Minima Guides for a fly rod?
