I am trying my first Tiger. After reading much on the subject I think my underwrap is too tight. When burnishing the wrap barely moved. Will this still create the effect or should I rewrap? I thought after using CP the thread might loosen but I'm not sure if it is enough. Should the under-pattern be really noticeable? Thank You for replies in advance. Re: Tiger Wrap

I have no idea what you've read on the subject, but the original articles as they appeared in RodMaker Magazine are on the online library page here. They both answer your question about the tightness of the base wrap and the importance of disturbing that layer through burnishing. In fact, they go into quite a bit of detail on that issue.

First post, so please forgive me if I'm out of line. I have built only 1 rod so far, with numbers twp and three in progess and a 4th still in the shipping tube. I have decided to put the tiger wraps in the space between the split grips. I have been using a 1/4" aluminum rod to align cork when building handles and I've found that this is a great medium to practice all kinds of thread techniques with. When I'm done, I can just cut and clean up the rod to use it again. It took me about four tries to learn how to get the desired effects I wanted from the tiger wraps. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
