I have a customer that wants a 7' flippin rod (short guy) and wants to use very heavy braided line (60-80lb range). Most of the flipping sticks that I have used in the past were 15-30 lb line rating. Does anyone have any suggestions? Will a 15-30lb line rating hold up to a 60-80lb braid?
I think he got his specs from a 7'6" carrot stick but I am not sure. Thanks, Scott Re: 7' flippin rod

Scott, the Castaway 874 XP3 is probably as close as you are going to get with the use of braided line. The specs are 7'3" rated for 1/2 to 1 1/2 oz lure weight and the line weight is rated for 10 to 80 pound test braid. Lots of guys from this forum ave given this blank a try and most all have reordered several since then.
Scroll down to the last blank on the page of the link below. [swamplandtackle.com] Lance Re: 7' flippin rod

I would definately second the Castaway 874. The blank can handle the braid it would serve very well as a flipping rod. Scott Sheets www.smsrods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
