Urathane/polyurathane glues

Has anyone tried these glues yet for rod building? I am going to do a test rod with it and see how it holds up

They'll hold up fine, but you may not find them to be as user friendly as the epoxies are. Then again, maybe you will. Just something you'll have to determine for yourself.

Be careful if using them to install grips where you may need some lubricity involved - the adhesives you mention are a tad on the "sticky" side.

As I just found out Tom :-)

I just glued the mudhole CRB trim ring and cap together and seems to be good for this kind of use. I cant see it working for grips. I got to try how it goes on the graphite arbors to the blank and seat

They don't work too badly for gluing the reel seat to the blank. They can be an awful mess to glue the cork grip to the blank as isopropyl alchohol doesn't clean it up very well.

I only use them on cork to cork/composite cork to composite cork or any combination. I find that they work better than epoxies because (1) they expand as they cure filling in any small voids between cork rings(2) most of them dry a tannish color so joints are virtually invisible (3) I find that they sand easier than epoxies.
Here are a few tips: wear gloves or at the very least wash it off your hands before it sets(naphtha works well)
to speed up cure and clamp time, moisten cork, wood, etc with a damp towel(because polyurethane glues are moisture cured, more moisture faster cure)
do not remove the clamp(s) until the expanded glue feels firm (about an hour or two)
because it will expand 2-3 times the volume a little goes a long way

Well there's my two-three cents worth.
