Not sure how it happend but my epoxy is set and the grip didnt slide all the way down the bank and butt up against the reel seat. I have a little bit more than 1/16" gap between the seat and the grip. I dont know to remove the grip, anyone have any sugestions?

Per the article we ran a few issues back in RodMaker, take some braided fishing line, grasp between your gloved hands, Lower it to the rod blank just in front of the grip and pull the braid from the front to the back of the grip. Use a bit of a sawing motion and the grip will slice right off the blank. Very little clean up will be required.

You could? haven't seen it? ....but you may be able to wrap the area in something like red metallic thread and finish over it, once you get the thread built up to where you want it, take 1/8" masking tape and tape off the seat and grip, mix your finish and let it get thick before applying, lay on one nice even coat, let cure about 1/2 way to the point where the finish wont move or run, pull the tape and the finish will lay down nicely on the edges. .....just a thought! That's what I'd do.

I would say that the grip did go all the way to the reelseat. However, once it started drying, I would wager that you did not go back and check it 1-2 hours later for slippage. Those grips don't always stay in one place so be sure to check it on the next one.

I did that on my first micro guide rod and did just like Duane talked about. I used the same color thread and filled up the gap. A little finish and a lesson learned.
It'll be fine, I get more compliments on that little screw up than any amount of marbling or tiger wraps.

You could also insert a colored ring like a poker chip or thin slice of
EVA or craft foam. Done well you wouldn't know it wasn't planned
that way from the start.

Replacing the grip would probably be the best way to go however.

Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..

get your self a cork clamp to hold handles and seats to gether while drying so they don't open up.

Also a snuger fit will hold them together better.

Like said you can fill maybe with some 5 minute epoxy while turning to fill up with seat and handle taped off. Then either thread to finish or tinted thread finish of a color of you choice.
