Have dark blue forecast blank. Want to use FishHawk Goldenrod (bright yellow) for trim bands. I will be using CP. Am I going to have problems with this keeping good color ??? If so solutions ?

Nylon yellow over dark blue will require that you carefully wrap and pack the threads. You need a good wet coat of CP, perhaps 2.

Nylon Yellow, Goldenrod, etc., is notorious for bleeding through when used over darker colors.

If you're set on using a lighter colored thread as your main wrap color, the sure solution is to use NCP thread.

I just did this same combo. I used goldenrod on a forecast blank with CP and it bled through with 2 coats. If I was to do it over again I would use NCP or not put on the CP. Just my 2 Cents.

With no CP it will go completely dark on you on that blue blank.

I too would use NCP because even with multiple coats of CP regualr nylon can show up blotchy in places. Not sure on the blank your using but you could double wrap the goldenrod which should help with color consistency and any gaps in the thread.

The other thing you can consider is using a larger diameter thread, say D, instead of A. This gives you more thickness (you may not like this, or you might) which means the yellow will be less affected the blank color underneath.

Not nearly as much because the metallic usually has an opaque core material that prevents the blank color from showing through or changing the shade of the thread.

Try a wrap of silver or white tape under where you want your light color.

try a small wrap on the butt section of the blank and see what it looks like. pack it real tight ! If no good mark the guide wraps and spray of brush some yellow paint on the blank first.

pack VERY tight i regullay use a dayglow thread for tip wraps of about six inches and 3 coats of CP on a black blank with no problems.
fish hawk has been around over here in uk for years and takes cp better than gudebrod in my opinion
( test it under the front grip space and see would be the best bet you see it on the blank your using and can cover it with a nice EVA grip when done )
