A few weeks ago, I posted a message about a lure rod designed just for casting small yo-zuri crystal minnows. Well, I ended up selecting a glass batson spg 843 blank. I cut it into three pieces, and using a solid glass boat blank as stock, I made 2 spigots. This morning, twenty four hours after gluing, I put the blank together and it seems to be just fine. I am a bit shocked. I will still not rate it as a total success until it catches some fish, however, the blank is as tight as my factory 3 piece graphite rods. It took approximately 45 minutes to fit each spigot, and the very slow taper of the boat blank helped. The spigots were roughly fitted, placed in drill, then wet sanded to size. The whole process took two hours.
