Anyone else have practical experience with threadless micro's - how are they holding up for you, and any tips or maybe "threadless" fixturing ideas, etc you might be able to share to aid in the assembly process? Re: threadless micro's

They hold up fine. They offer a different "look" for the most part, that's all.

It would be a wash, pretty much. The weight of several coats of thickened PG versus a layer of thread and a couple regular coats of PG are going to weigh about the same.
