I'm very pleased with my latest rod with the micro guides. The work great!
Now I'm getting ready to do another, a spinning rod UL power. The very smallest micro guides do not appear to have any ceramic rings in them. How would these work on mono? Will they wear the line fast or do they have any sort of high polish or smoothness to the surface that the line rides on? Re: Micro guides revisited

My Batson micros have ceramic rings as do the Fujis, where're you getting your micros? Re: Micro guides revisited

The only ones I have with no rings are the MKG's from Fuji Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/10/2008 01:09PM by Billy Vivona. Re: Micro guides revisited

These are Fujis. I think 2mm, but maybe 1.5. I need to get out my reading glasses!
I just can't imagine that a frame with no ring could be good for the line, but they sell them and I assume rod builders use them. So? Re: Micro guides revisited

Fuji
List those as 1mm. But I have not and do not intend to use guides with out insert rings. If for no other reason I like the fact that they aid in displacing heat so it doesn’t affect my line. My personal opinion is that going back to guides without ceramic rings is going back in the quality of the end product. Re: Micro guides revisited

Those guides are designed for something else where fish don't take any line. YOu have the guide on teh far right, correct?
[www.rodbuilding.org] I wouldn't use a non-ringed guide for a rod I inteded on casting and catching a lot of strong fish on. They only cost like $3.50 for 10 guides, anyway. Re: Micro guides revisited

OK I think I get it. I'm going to go back up to 2.5mm guides and stick with ceramic rings all the way. Thanks. Re: Micro guides revisited

If you can get 2.5's
So far the few that are stocking Micro's have set their size limit to 3mm. If You find them smaller then that? Please let me know as I am starting to run low myself Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
