I have always built using two coats of flexcoat on the sticks I build.
Has anybody else used anything that might be applied as a fast drying first coat instead of flexcoat? Thanks Keith Re: Number of coats

PermaGloss would be one thing to try, although one coat of that isn't going to add much depth to anything. It's water thin. Also, you couldn't recoat for a few days because you'd want the solvent to completely evaporate. So that isn't going to save you any time, if that's what you're after.
Keep in mind that your Flex Coat can be recoated in just a few hours - as soon as the first coat is no longer tacky enough to grab your brush or spatula. ............... Re: Number of coats
