Wondering how many of you guys use a glue type adhesive on tip tops vs. how many use a 5 minute epoxy. I've got the Gudebrod Ferrule Cement but have yet to put it to the test - as it's 36 degrees on April 28 in MN (First time I've really considered moving south - what's up with Global Warming?). Anywho, if you've got a minute weigh in. I mainly am wanting to be confident in the ferrule cement that I'm using or see that I need to switch to the 5 minute epoxy.
Thanks! AC FishinFreaks Rogers, MN Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

Fugi Tip adhesive. Epoxy would make it very difficult to get the tip off if you want to do a rebuild. Bill in WV Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

I use 5 minute epoxy. A lighter will heat enough to break the bond if you need to repair. I had tips come loose just by having it in my truck topper. Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

5 min. epoxy, I did use tip top glue and changed to high temp. hot glue still had a few come loose, switched to 5 min. never looked back.
For repairs put a wire through the ring and pull add a little heat just enough to pull the guide off, fast simple and easy. Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

Flexcoat 5-minute. No problem at all removing it when I want it removed. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/28/2008 07:01PM by Jim Gamble. Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

5 minute for MANY years (been using Flex Coat's recently). Tip-tops can be removed without damaging the blank if done properly. Putter Williston, ND Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

I use high temp hot melt glue.
If you use low temp it can get soft when left in a vehicle during summer months Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

I use flexcoat tip-top hot melt adhesive. But then I don't leave my rod in a vehicle on hot days either so I haven't had issues so far... Chuck Ungs Re: Tip Top Adhesive - Freshwater

I use 5 minute epoxy for my offshore rods that are heading south in the hot sun, but mostly I use the hi temp hot melt glue on all the freshwater stuff. I used the regular hot melt and had some come loose in the Deschutes canyon on those 100 degree days. No issue with the hi temp stuff.

Andy Dear's 15min Gel, which gives you time to set up an accurate alignment before it starts to harden up. We use the five-minute version of AD's gel for something quick but you gotta be quick to get it right.
