1st fly rod build - reel seat question

I'm getting ready to build a 5 wt fly rod for my brother in law. I've never wrapped a fly rod, and I'm holding the reel seat in my hand and looking at the butt cap??? It's metal on metal, and it feels like there's a little bit of play when I put them together. I'm sure it's sized properly, but I'm wondering if I need to tape it a little? Should I use the U40 to glue this butt cap onto the reel seat or should I use something else?
Here's a pic of what I'm talking about: [i66.photobucket.com] Thanks in advance for the help. T Re: 1st fly rod build - reel seat question

I use 5 minute epoxy myself. Re: 1st fly rod build - reel seat question

trondak U-40's rod bond with its vaseline-like consistency should fill slight gaps. i can't tell how much gap you have... :-)

I use 5 min epoxy and lightly rough up the contact areas.

Thanks guys!
I have some Devcon 2Ton epoxy. I just looked at the label and it says it will bond metal. I bought it to seal lures with, but I never would have thought to use it on a rod! Re: 1st fly rod build - reel seat question

Tim,
The DevCon will work fine. It's what I use routinely for bonding things like grips, reel seats, etc. Buddy Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
