St. Croix SCIII blank equivalent

I've got an older custom built fly rod (8.5 ft 5wt) that was built on a St. Croix SCIII (avid) blank. It's the pre IPC blank. I love this rod. And I'd like something similar as a backup in case I ever break or wear out this rod. I just don't like the new IPC SCIII/Avid blank.
I'm looking for a blank that is similar in weight, stiffness, etc. Any thoughts from the experts here? Would a batson rainshadow RX7 be simiar? thanks, Greg Re: St. Croix SCIII blank equivalent

Well, I don't know if I fall in to the expert category, but I have found the Batson RX7's, to be a close match for the older Avids. I agree - not such a big fan of the new ones. Re: St. Croix SCIII blank equivalent

If it were me, I'd run it through the CCS measurements and then check it against the entries on the CCS Data Site, Greg. Top links on the left (Common Cents Info and CCS Data Site). Putter Williston, ND Re: St. Croix SCIII blank equivalent

Greg,
Your email is hidden, I may know where a pre-IPC 4 piece is at. Email me. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
