Just thought I'd post an update on my Diamondite experimenting. With very little learning curve it has become the best one-coat rod finish for UL to Med-lite rods I have ever used!! It stays level and right where you put it, no footballs, no bubbles. You can even marble with it if you time it right!
If you haven't tried it, check it out! Marc Re: Diamondite - great one coat for lite rods!!!!

I used it on my last rod and I am sold. I had to put 2 coats on the transition guides since they had a thicker foot, but on all of the running guides, BLAG 6’s, one coat gave a perfect finish. Between the clarity of the finish and their color preserver the Madeira thread really popped, the colors were very bright and vibrant.
I also believe that because of the polymers used in the finish it is very light, my rod gained .1 oz after putting on the finish. And that included 2 coats in over a 7 inch gap between split grips. In a previous post I questioned whether anyone had experience using Diamondite with water slide decals and didn’t get too many responses. I went ahead and used it and was very happy with the results, very clear and very level. Re: Diamondite - great one coat for lite rods!!!!

Not only is it a clear finish impervious to UV degradation ... it is amine-free. So those that are chemical sensitive or concerned about such, give it a try. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
