Batson F guides vs. alconites

How do the single foot Batson F guides compare to Fuji Alconites? Are they as light and slick?

Batsons are not as light, looking at the guides, you'll see less metal and a shorter/thinner guide foot on the Fuji.

Thanks. They seem to rate pretty close on the vickers scale. I'll give Batson a shot at less than half the price of Fuji. Maybe I'll grind some of the extra metal off.

Curtis,

I use the Bastons almost exclusively! Like you mentined I DO grind the feet down: both sides, top and bottom and thin the foot CONCIDERABLY. I like them WAY better than the fuji because the foot is a tad taller, this makes them easier to wrap and they just plain look better IMO.....and I suspect the weight is dead even when I get done grinding, maybe lighter. Bastons for me!

Curtis,
There is no question that the Fuji guides are very good guides but I build a lot of rods and have been using the Batson guides exclusively for quite a few years. I am very pleased with them and they are half as expensive as comparable Fuji guides. In fact, you can get the Batson Zirconium guides which are harder than the Fuji Alconite and have titanium plated frames for less than the Fuji Alconite. I think that the blue Zirconium guides are particularly attractive when wrapping the rod with blue or a complimentary color.
