Hello everyone,
I have been wondering about some thread options. I have yet to use the Maderia thread but would like to do so in the near future. I do however have some thread that is labeled 00 nylon. I got this from a very small place in Wilmot, Wisconsin formerly of the name Sonnies (I am a relative and that is how I got it). I know that they have sold off all of their equiptment but I am wondering if this size thread would still be good as I believe it may be from around the time that I was born (early 70's). I have done some test wraps with it and it seems ok, just looking for some opinions here Thanks, Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC Re: thread

Go For It Gunny...
I would suggest taking the first layer of thread off the spool, being that it may have faded from age [ I can relate]. "OO" is a very fine thread..I had used it in the 70's for fly rods...test a finish coat on it to be sure. Tight Lines Tight Wraps Fishin'Stix by Fred Re: thread

The 00 stuff was the primary thread for bamboo flyrods, at one time. I know a few folks who could use it. It's tougher to work with on rods much bigger than tat - you're actually better off using "A" thread or the Madiera. There are some threas, notably Sulky, that are slightly thinner than "A" but not 00-size. BTW, I'll take the 00 if you won't want it because I use it for repairs. What color is it?
You'll like the Madiera, if you like small diameter threads. Uncle Russ Calico Creek Rods Re: thread

Russ,
the only colors that I have are yellow and white. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
