Oh I've been bit by the bug. And I thought fishing was bad. Been a reader for a while decided it was time to register. A couple of questions. First I would like to add some rollers to my hand wrapper any cheap functional ideas? Second what is Fuji Alconite? Is it a silicone carbide? If Tom Kirkman sees this got your rod building book what a great introduction to this wives nightmare. Re: Hand wrapper rollers

Brooks.
A set of 4 small casters for 75 cents [www.sciplus.com] The second from the top. About 10 seconds to drill the shaft out. Put an "O"ring around the wheel and they are perfect.. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/18/2006 10:46PM by Mike Barkley. The roller wheels made for sliding doors work well and can be
found at most hardware stores and Home Depot Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Hand wrapper rollers

Brooks,
I just built my hand wrapping setup and spent a lot of time working out the roller issue. I tried conveyor rollers, screen door rollers and the casters metioned above. I finally saw a picture posted by Wylie Wiggens here and got ahold of him for the idea. I copied his plan only with bigger components. Here is what I used: 6200 RS VXB Bearings 10mm x 30 mm and 9mm Wide [] Double seal O rings 90025 k355 from McMaster Carr O rings 9452 k42 from McMaster Carr This set up has no drift while I am hand wrapping (an issue with all the other setups I tried) The O rings will transfer color to the virgin thread if they are not coated with something to seal them (they are black). Or I just bought he cheaper model 100 for $9.02. I have lots of extra of the o rings if you email me your address and cover the postage, I will send you some. The bearings you will need to get yourself. Take out the 123 from the e-mail address a1h2e3rn_mj@hotmail.com Mike Ahern Re: Hand wrapper rollers

I have seen roller blade wheels used for this purpose. I personally use a HW1 flexcoat hand wrapper, but when I built my drying box, and was in need of rollers to use for 200 rpm used for applying finish, the wheels work well. I just went to Walmart and bought a closeout pair of kids roller blades for 11.00 and I had 8 wheels, and bearings. They work very well, I just sanded lightly the small plastic ridge on the new wheels, and they do not scratch the blank or mark it up. No need for o-rings, bearings, etc. Just my 2 cents Galen Briese Re: Hand wrapper rollers
