I just saw a post about someone using 00 Thread on an UL rod. I thought 00 Thread was real thick? I have some at home (inherited) just thought it was thicker than E, don't know why (I think someone told me that) so never looked at it closely...is it thinner than A, thicker than E, where does it stack up in the range thread sizes? I'll have to actually look at it now... Re: 00 Thread

It is the smallest diameter thread people used many years ago. Not a lot of colors available. I would just guess it is between 40wt and 60 wt Madeira. Re: 00 Thread

A is equivalent to 0. 00 is thinner, all the way down to 6/0 gossamer silk. I believe Gudebrod makes 00 nylon. I like 3/0 and 4/0 silks. Don Re: 00 Thread

I still use a lot of 00 black nylon gudebrod thread, also some 00 silk black thread, it matchs up well to fishhawk metallics in size, I use it for split diamonds among other things. I like skinny thread.
I guy I learned alot about weaving from many years ago, Cam Clark, used it for weaves on fly rods. Smaller the thread diameter, the finer the look just like clothing. Re: 00 Thread

It is true that Gudebrod 00 has a smaller diameter than A, but the twist is also different and I find it does not lay down as smooth as A does even with burnishing. This can be aproblem with very thin finishes. If I want small diameter I would rather use silk. Re: 00 Thread

i use classic coat and don't have a problem with the 00, don't use it for wrapping guides only in butt wraps so never noticed a burnishing problem Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
