Does anyone recomend after you prep (properly) your black guides to seal the ends with black magic marker and a couple coats of CP?
I was planning on double overwrapping the WO guides in D thread (each with a coat of CP) I was wondering if you did not use a magic marker the bare steel may offset the color of the overwrap? Thanks, Ernie Re: sealing black guides

Hey Ernie.
This would only become an issue if you finished the wraps without using CP. With no CP the wrap becomes translucent and the guide foot shows, sometimes quite distinctly depending on the thread and its colour. The bare steel will also be the first to rust IF somehow the finish is broken and water gets in. Red blotches in a wrap doesn't look cool at all. Re: sealing black guides

Ernie,
You will see the shiny ground area of the foot if you leave it bare steel through the epoxy. I have colored some with a black sharpie marker and others I didn't. Just depends on what look you want. (this is NOT using CP on your wraps). If you used CP on your black wraps, you will not see the guide foot if you packed your threads well (the thread will not be transparent like they are when you're NOT using color preserver). I keep a small bottle of black automotive touch-up paint by in my workstation for just this reason.
