Sharpie pen in gold and silver
Posted by: Ken Blevins (---.ironoh.adelphia.net)

I bought a silver and a gold Sharpie pen and want to try and make my own signatures .If I write on a previously epoxied surface, will I run into a problem with the new epoxy? Do I need to lightly sand the area to be epoxied ?? I hope not. The rods that I’m talking about were finished in the last 4 or 5 weeks.
Thanks in advance
Ken Blevins

the only sharpies that i have found in the metalic gold and silver are not "sharpie" enough. they don't make a fine enough line. i found another brand (don't remember the name, they are at home) that is real fine but still hard to get a good clean line with. when i get home i will look at the brand and post it here.

Check out the thread from earlier today. I use the pens from Dick Blick and they are better than Sharpie IMHO

There are numerous good pens out there. You just have to go and get a few and try them. Micheals is a good place to start. You can write over epoxy. I never need to sand anything before writing on my blanks. I have posted a few times that I found the Sandford Uniball gel in fine point that works great and there are other pens that do the same job. I did have to try some before I found what I wanted. With the pens I use you can make a mistake and clean with alcohol all nite long till you get it right. Using the right pen takes the stress off of getting it right the first time. Tom
