Help! I used a gold pen that I thought adhered to the blank and let it dried over night. But when I applied the clear gloss sealer it made the gold run. What type of pen is the best and what Iam I doing wrong??

The pen you used will most likely work fine. Clean the area off and use the same pen again. After dry, lightly spray over the top with Krylon Fixatiff. This will give you a protective barrier between ink and epoxy. It shouldn't smear using this method. Best of luck!

I've had good experience with a Gelly Roll Med pen. Before using it I did some tests with and without a spray fixatiff and neither ran when I applied epoxy. I got pretty aggessive with the test epoxy application over ink that had been allowed to dry thoroughly. That said, I would suggest that you experiment with any pen technique prior to application on a finished rod.

I've used gel pens with mixed results. I recently got these in [www.dickblick.com] in the fine point silver and gold. They are a very fine point, much finer than the fine point metallic sharpies, flow very well, and do dry instantly. I haven't tried them on a rod a yet, but my preliminary testing (on scrap pieces and other various materials) indicates that they will be the solution to the frustration I have experienced with the gel pens.

I use the sanfoed uniball gel. It works just like Mikes. Dries in a few seconds and spray a little fix-a tiff before finishing

Spray fix. That'll solve your problem.
