For those of you who use orthodontic rubber bands to hold guides in place, I recently dealt with Thompson Orthodontics in Prospect, KY with good results. Phone number is 1-800-251-3437 and their web site is www.thompsonorthodontics.com
I spoke to John Thompson about ordering 1/4 inch rubber bands- he said a sizeable part of their rubber band sales are to crafts people. The only problem was the minimum order- 5,000 (50 bags of 100 each). That's a lot of rubber bands. Cost was $39.95 + $6.95 S/H. Pete K. Re: Source for orthodontic rubber bands

Get surgical tubing and cut you own with a single edge razor blade. Source of tubing: www.reefscuba.com/surgical_tubing.htm. They sell 10 ft lengths for $5.50 + S/H. I got some 1/16 and 1/8 from them. I had all kinds of 1/4 inch stuff prior to retiring.. A foot will last a long time.

Pete,
I use the small mini plastic ties available at any Wal-Mart. They are inexpensive and work very well. I will tighten them up close to the base of the guide foot and then slide it up halfway up the guide foot which makes it fit just a little tighter. I will make wraps right up to the tie then cut the tie off with a pair of small wire cutters. It holds the guide in place very well. Capt. Pete , go to the Reef Scuba Accessories web site, they have every size of latex tubing that is imaginable. They sell it in 3 ft pieces, and in 10 foot rolls. Very reasonable. It is the only place that carries the super small ID tubing that will fit guides to small diameter blanks. Phone Number is 1-800-633-4837. Web address is www.reefscuba.com/surgical_ tubing.htm, or just do a search for RSA, or just Reef Scuba Accesories. Re: Source for orthodontic rubber bands

The surgical latex tubing from ReefScuba Accessories works great. As Galen mentioned, the latex tubing is available in a great range of sizes. I use very sharp scissors to cut the tubing into rings. Re: Source for orthodontic rubber bands

Tip No 1, Mudhole Tackle sells the tubing in two different sizes/diameters. Tip No 2, cut the tubing across about 1/8 inch thick.

I sell and fix dolls and am in need of very small, orthodontic size rubber bands. Please tell me where to buy them. Thank you. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
