rod coating came off

As I was repositioning a guide this morning I removed some of the shiny material on the blank. After picking and rubbing around on it I now have about a 2 inch area on the blank with no color, just exposed graphite .what do I need to do to correct this problem ? Will covering the area with a thin layer of epoxy do the trick .I’m open to suggestions ….
Thanks a lot
Ken Blevins

I would send it back, sounds defective to me. The finish is usually like paint or varnish so if it is coming off I would think that is probably not the only spot.

I would have to agree see if the manufacturer will
exchange the blank . Its possible that the coating that was put on the
blank was incorrectly formulated and your problem is the end result.
Tightlines.
