Several folks have inquired about gooseneck lamps used in a photo under "equipment" section.
These lamps were manufactured by SUNNEX, Needham, Ma (Ser. 970 Halogen Lamp). They were purchased a long time ago for another purpose & I can't recall where I bought them.. For current info on what's available, check out sunnex.com. They give off a lot of light and can also be used as a heat source. If used as a heat source, you have to use common sense and not get tied up doing other distracting things, such as reading rodbuilding web posts!. I recently scorched a rear grip while trying to speed-up filling of a cork pit. To solve the screw-up, the affected cork was sawed off using jeweler's saw, blank extended and converted to a splitgrip. The rear grip was too short anyway so it was a blessing in disguised maybe. Hope this helps someone. Stan Re: Gooseneck Halogen Lamps

I've quit using halogens for close-up work after getting a nasty 2nd degree burn on my arm from one. They're nasty buggers, no doubt!! Putter Williston, ND Re: Gooseneck Halogen Lamps

I went to an art supply store and bought a 'sunlight' lamp. It has a circular flourescent tube (9 or 10 in. diameter) around an incandescent light bulb. It's supposed to show true colors like sunlight does. About $60. in 1990.This lamp has given very good service to my rodbuilding, fly tying and my wife's sewing. I know very little about halogen lights. Ralph If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Re: Gooseneck Halogen Lamps

Zebra Lighting Systems will be at the National Rod Builders Show this February. They have a most unique halogen lamp - it doesn't get hot. Not at all. The entire lighting system/s they offer are quite well thought out and useful. I'm hoping to see them here as a sponsor shortly as well. Otherwise, look them up in Charlotte. They have a tremendous product.
