Just looked at a Temple Fork Pro series factory built rod today. First thing I noticed is the lack of thread wraps around any of the female ferrules. There was a coat of finish but no thread anywhere. Is this right? I checked several others in the same series and they didn't have thread on the ferrules either. Looks like a broken rod waiting to happen to me!

There are some rod blanks out there that need no reinforcements at the ferrules. One is a sponsor, check out the CTS Rod Blanks site. Re: TFO rods???

Most all modern tip over butt ferrules are internally reinforced. Most often, we're doing this thread reinforcement thing out of habit but it still provides some extra protection against very little weight or inconvienence. I'd keep doing it on any blanks I build until the maker tells us that it's not necessary.

Learn something new everyday. I'm with you Tom, I would go ahead and wrap them anyway. Re: TFO rods???

Yep, you do learn something everyday, especially on this site. I didn't realize that some blanks didn't need reinforcing. I would be interested in knowing which blanks do not. I know it's a personal nit, but I don't like the ferrule wraps interfering with the pattern of the progression of the guide wraps. Recently I've been using thread in a color that "disappears" into the blank, but the glossiness of the finish still stands out. I told you it was a nit.
I've never seen anything posted with blank specifications. Is there way to find out? Contact the manufacturer? One piece live bait rod onto a 2 pieces one
