When rateing a typical 9' 0" fly rod, with the first one foot of the butt leveled & fixed in a PVC sleeve, is the deflection required 3 foot even (9/3), or 2 foot 13/16 (8.5/3)?

The rod should be deflected a distance equal to one-third of the rod's total length. 108 inches would require a deflection of 36 inches. Doing it this way for each rod maintains consistency across the board.
Remember, it is a system of relative measurement - it is how the numbers compare in relation to each other that makes any systemof measurement effective and useful. ............. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
