I have just put up a short list of the seminars for the National Rod Builders Show in Charlotte this coming February. You can access it via the link at top of the sponsors column.
There are more seminars to be added along with the various demonstrations that will be taking place downstairs at the rod builder tables. I’ll get those listed as soon as I can confirm the demos and the presenters. A major fishing tackle retailer has come on board and will be helping us promote the event nationwide. More on that as we get the promotional materials ironed out and in their hands. Already, 5 new vendors (manufacturers and custom rod builders) that were not at either of the previous events the past two years, have joined us for the 2006 event. All indications are that this coming year’s event will be even bigger and better than last year. It’s still early, but things are coming together very well. .......... Re: Charlotte 2006

Wouldn't it be nice if the seminars could be availiable on dvd shortly after the Show.

That won't happen, for a variety of reasons. First off, instructional DVD's or tapes made from public seminars are not very good learning tools. Much better are those designed, written and performed soley for the purpose of coming out on DVD or VHS. I've seen tapes and DVD's made from seminar presentations. Frankly, they stink. What works in a live presentation in room just doesn't lend itself to other mediums very well.
Second, the cost to film, edit and produce such a thing would rarely be offset by the available market for them. Too much cost, too little return. This is why the National Rod Builders Show is such a great value - you can't see this much stuff, learn this much, get this much, from any other show, seminar or venue. It has to be the greatest deal going, even if you have to travel a long way to attend. I understand that some just can't make it for a variety of reasons, but hopefully the show will continue on for many years into the future and everyone will have a chance to attend at some point. ................. Many thanks to Tom, Barry, suppliers, vendors, seminar presenters and those doing the demos! This Show is simply outstanding as Mike said.
Can't say enough about it's value to rod-builders - it's the "finest kind" event to get new ideas, and a h@#$ of a lot of fun talking to folks from all over. Stan Re: Charlotte 2006

Is there somewhere close to the convention center where a bunch of guys could do this or do you need a car to get around to anything from downtown? Re: Charlotte 2006

Mike, check e-mail. Spouse will be with me, and I had to promise "romantic dinners" to get her to accompany me.

No need for a car. There are some excellent restuarants all over within walking distance of the Hotel/Convention Center. Plenty of night life in Charlotte as well, if you're into that. Hopefully more people will be hanging out in the Hotel Lobby at night this year.. Re: Charlotte 2006

I understad that Tom, but it would shure be nice to se some clips with the pro's in action, marbelizing, painting, casting and whatever.
I'm just jealous of your Rod Building Show. The closest i can get here in Sweden is to take the car and visit Marko in his workshop. No offence Marko, that would be a treat. :) Re: Charlotte 2006

There will be some video footage taken this year but it will be used for some other purposes down the road. Hopefully, you can make it over one day to enjoy the show.
