I know that Rod Bond is the glue of choice for cork assembly. What is the best glue to use when gluing the cork to the blank or the reel seat to the blank? Still Rod Bond? I've been using Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy. Re: best of best

Bill,
Apart from Rod Bond that is really great product and my only choice for the handle assembling, you can use Gudebrod Rod Cement (#833), especially if you have not much time. RC dries faster and is a bit easier to work with because it's 1-part, not 2-part like Rod Bond Pavel, Moscow, RU Re: best of best

The selling point for RodBond over the Devcon (which is perfectly fine for bonding seats and grips, of course) is that RodBond stays where you put it. It won't run or seep out of joints after the fact. You glue things up, clean up and that's it. With the liquid epoxies you'd better keep checking back for a bit to make sure nothing has seeped out or formed an unsightly glue line.

unsightly glue line ... or that the liquid epoxy has seeped into the uplocking reel seat hidden in the grip, filling it and making it impossible for the reel foot to seat. Don't ask how I know this.
Rod Bond for everything now. Re: best of best

I guess that I am just different, but I glue up cork with Titebond III and have had no problem with it. Lately,I have been putting the handles on the blanks with Gorilla Glue. That stuff expands to fill any voids and is stronger than it needs to be. I cut a handle off a blank that had been glued with Gorilla and I sure would not want to do that again. But then again, I guess it's just me. I do need to try Rod Bond however cause everyone says it's good. I dont mind watching for the Gorilla Glue to seep out of the handle since I like to see what it does and be sure it has filled all the voids.
I still glue the reel seats on with Devcon but that is where I may try Rod Bond next. Re: best of best

Rod Bond- Stays flexible and doesn't seep out everywhere. I too learned the hard way. Rod bond is just so simple it is almost idiot proof.
I actually use it all over the house for stuff. Works great. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
