Anyone here fish for smallies in the Richmond area? I'm looking to hit the James River this Thursday/ Friday while there on business and am wondering how the levels and conditions are.
If not the James, info on any local ponds/lakes for bass/ panfish/ carp would be much appreciated. Lastly, if anyone wants to hit the water I'm available all day on Friday. Thanks! Lou Re: Off Topic- Fishing in Richmond, VA

Not exactly sure about the James, but I live in Fredericksburg (about 60 miles north) and fish the Rappahannock quite a bit. Right now the water is LOW. We haven't had rain around here in weeks, and I know the Rapp. is running at less than half it's 90 yr daily median average. However, the smallmouth action is very hot. You may want to ask over on [www.southernflyfishersforum.com] , as I know a few of it's members live in the Richmond area and fish the James frequently. Another place that has many members that fish the James and may provide you with valuable information is [forums.riversmallies.com]. Re: Off Topic- Fishing in Richmond, VA

Thanks Mike.
I would be willing to drive to the Rapp, do you have any suggestions for easy access. Also, how long of a drive do you think it is? I've heard great things about the Rapp and would love to hit it. Lou Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
