Using Scotchbrite

I use Scotchbrite to take the shine off the butt before epoxying handles but should I use it on the blank under the guides before installing them?. Will sanding the shine off the tip sections weaken the blank? or are thread wraps and epoxy enough without surface prep... Bob. Re: Using Scotchbrite

Bob, the thread is what secures the guides to the blank, not the finish. Scuffing the guide areas will just be extra work for you with little to no gain. You do want to scuff the tip though for your tip top. Make sure you scuff the inside of the tube too. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
