Need help... surf rod and epoxy didn't work well

Applied LS Supreme to the butt section between the end of the cork tape foregrip to the first guide underwrap. The blank is over an inch thick, the biggest Fuji and Aftco reel seats wouldn't fit it. I put the decals on and the trim bands, mixed a double dose of LS Supreme (2 x the usual 3cc syringes). By the time I was done, I had used up almost all of the LS Supreme. The only problem was that it wasn't very level. Very wavy and not smooth. I've been getting good results with my other Epoxy jobs and am wondering if it has to do with the diameter of this blank.
For the next coat, should I use another coat of LS Supreme or LS Sup High Build? I also tried heating it a bit with the hair dryer after I saw it wasn't leveling out as smooth as I would have liked, it usually heats up a bit and smooths out, but that didn't work either. Sure hope I don't have to strip the rod down and start all over. Would be a real nightmare on this blank as I used thread and epoxy on the end of the cork tape as well. Thanks, Phil Re: Need help... surf rod and epoxy didn't work well

It levels automatically (pour some out on a flat countertop and watch what happens), but can only support so much of itself. A wavy or lumpy finish is usually the mark of appyling too much per application.
At this point you may wish to block sand the area to get it level and then re-apply a thinner application of the Supreme. Brush it out lengthwise. I prefer the hi-build version, but many like the regular and do quite well with it. ............ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
