Tom,
LCI is no longer in business but I am sure that you can find a blank that is very close. I would measure the action and power using the Common Sense System and someone here will be able, with those numbers, to lead you to a blank that is very close. It sounds like a med./heavy to heavy plug or hot shot blank. Re: Can`t find blank

Tom,
If you will measure the power and the action angle of the blank using the Common Sense System you will then be able to find a blank that is presently available that comes very close. The information that you have taken off of the blank is probably not enough to let you match it closely. You said it came from Portland. If you are in the Portland area you can come by my place and I can measure it for you and maybe find an equivalent in just a few minutes. Another alternative is to ask on BUY/SELL above and maybe someone still has one that they are interested in selling. Re: Can`t find blank

Thanks Emory but I`m in San Diego, I Wish I could come over just so you could explain the CSS to me. I just subscribed to Rodmaker Mag. so I missed the first part of the article. So Its all greek to me. I`m not sure having both parts would help. It sounds like I`m not the only one after reading past views on it in the library. If you can some how explain it simple and short that would be great, probably help alot of people. Thanks Tom Re: Can`t find blank

Tom,
The basics are really very simple. If you clamp down the butt of the blank level horizontally to something solid and then hang enough weight on the tip to deflect the blank 1/3 of it's length, for example a 9' blank would be deflected 3', you have the power. With the CCS you use pennies for weight because they have a standard weight, the number of pennies that is required to deflect the blank 1/3 of the blanks length is the power. It is that simple. When the rod is deflected 1/3 of it's length you measure the tip angle with a protractor. That is the action angle. Again it is that simple. You now have quantified the power of the blank and also the blanks action. You have numbers that can be accurately compared to other blanks rather than the light, medium and heavy or slow , medium and fast that the manufacturers give you and that mean very little. If you have any problems with this send me an e-mail and I will try to help you with any problems you have. Once you have done it the whole thing will only take you 5 minutes.
