When wrapping guides with D, what size metallic would I use for the trim bands? A? Re: Thread sizes

Depends. Is the trim band integrated in the main wrap, or does it start after the main wrap finishes. If the trim is inside the main wrap, I'd go with size D. Much easier to work with when the thread is the same size. If it starts after the main wrap finishes, it's up to you.

Hi Fred - you can use any size you want. It is easier to close with the same size but usually the trim/inlays are small enough that you can keep things beautiful with gentle manipulation of the threads. Metallics seem to be more problematic but still easy enough with patience. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
