guide on ferrule

I am in the process of building a 3w 7' 3piece and the guide spaceing recommendtions that the manufacturer sent indicate that a guied should be placed "on the ferrule". Does this mean to incorperate the guide in the wrap I use to reinforce the ferrule, or should I lengthen the wrap to incorperate the guide.

this is my first rod and not sure about what to do.

Pat,

Lengthen the wrap to include the guide and you should be all set.

Pat: This happened to me with a 7' ultra-lite spin rod. Putting the guide on the ferrule is not a problem, set the guide back on the ferrule slightly to allow several wraps on the tip of the ferrule before starting up the guide foot. I put six or seven wraps of size A thread before starting on the guide foot, worked just fine.

I actually try to work my spacing to incorporate a guide on any ferruled rod that I build on. If it doesn't fit there, I don't worry about it, but if I can get one on there, I do it.

I do most of them similar to Murf; sometimes I do a bit of decorative with trim bands and such-and then the guide wrap; horse apiece as to how close it is, just so the ferrule gets wrapped.

You are still in the running at "a horse a piece" but out of the contest when you have "three horses on you"
