SIC Titanium or TICH Single Foot Fly Guides . . . ?

I am building a 9' 8wt 2pc St. Croix Legend Ultra (IPC) for river Smallmouth fishing. Are the SIC guides worth the extra cost - does the performance merit? Does their weight slow the action? How big should my strippers be 16 & 12 or bigger? Also, will #6 pass the line and knots through ok?
Your advice is most appreciated. THanks, Rob Re: SIC Titanium or TICH Single Foot Fly Guides . . . ?

Rob,
I wouldn't use SIC Titanium for freshwater jusr because of the cost. #16 for stripper - Single ft guide will be less weight than snake guides. #6 guide should be ok for knots. Rob , the TI framed SICs are as light , if not lighter than the TICH single foots , though I don't have actual weights to back it up . There is a difference in the performance , mostly in line wear , and noise reduction . I also believe that the SIC ringed guides allow for longer casting , smoother shoots........purely my own experence. If you have the $ ..... get them , if not , the SF TICH are very nice , RECOILS from REC would be my first choice for SF wire guides, then the PAC BAY TICH . Have fun , John
Your size choice is fine IMO. Got Fish ? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/22/2005 10:04PM by John Dow. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
