I want to build a spin/fly combo and want to know what do I use to fit into the rear of the reel seat to give the extra length needed when in the spin rod mode. Mark Janeck's combo in a past Rodbuilder mag had an extension similar to those for screw in fighting butts. Where are such extensions available? Thanks! Re: Spin/fly combo reel seat

David,
I have 5" screw in extensions that are the same as the standard removeable fighting butt. You could glue a section of blank to that if you wanted it longer. Dan Craft Re: Spin/fly combo reel seat

i did it the hard way but it works well. i bought an aluminum ferrule set from neals fishing products. the female was mounted on the butt of the blank. i then mounted the seat so that there was enough room for the removable plug when i wanted "fly mode". the male was mounted on a piece of spare blank and the extension handle built on that. one word of caution. MAKE SURE that your selected reel seat fits the foot of your spinning reel. most fly seats won't. fuji spinning seats may be your option since that will fit the spin reel and the fly reel. just not as pretty. golden witch does have some elegant spin seats with wood
inserts but they are pricey. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
