Just a quick question really. In travels around the web I keep running across this DVD by Ken Preston. Would this be a helpful item to a beginning rod builder?

Yes!! Very. Also the best $15 you could possibly invest would be the book Rodbuilding guide by Tom Kirkman. Ken's video is available from Mudhole, as is Ton's book

I have that book, It is great. I was quite happy to see that Tom Kirkman is the moderator of this site (I assume they are one and the same). I was figuring the DVD would have a few good things to be able to see being done. Thanks for the tip though.

I heard that they were two different Tom Kirkmans and the the one that wrote the book is a lot younger and better looking than the one that owns this site and puts out RodMaker magazine.

Likely due to the stress of moderating this site and meeting publishing deadlines!

Back to Adams question, Yes I would recommend the DVD, Ken used to have streaming video from his website these were very popular, and very helpful for the beginer. I recall in an email thats why he decided to make the DVD with more tips and better quality etc etc. I learn from watching and this really helped me (problem is I'm not getting any better)and when Volume 2 comes out, get that as well I have been privy to seeing a pre production version, also very good for the beginer/novice.
