Time Limit Between Epoxy Coats?

I re wrapped a rod for myself, and everything is finished except I want to put one more coat of epoxy on the butt wrap. I'm using Flexcoat.
It has been about 10 days since I put the last coat of epoxy on the butt wrap, and I fished with the rod a couple of days ago (worked great with speckled trout).
Have I waited too long to put another coat of epoxy? Should I clean the area to be coated again, and if so with what?

Thanks,
Larry

Unfortunitly you waited to long. What you need to do is lean the wrap with denatured alcohol, this well get rid of any contaminates. Next use a gray Scotch brite scuff pad and lightly scuff the finish, wipe clean with alcohol again, dry off now you can put a new coat on. Generally you have about 36 hours before you well have to scuff between coats.

Good wraps Bob

I thought I might be pushing it. That's why I asked the pros.

Thanks for the input.

You can put another coat any time you want. Just have to scoff in order to get it to bond other wise it just lays on top and will probably peal

Larry - go to "My Control Center" and confirm your email address so I can send you an email.

You can add a coat of poxy at any time as long as the prep work is done correctly. You gotta be careful using solvents cause if you have a thread end stick up it can wick down into the wrap and not dry. It will cause havoc when you coat again. Glad to hear you got blood from trout on the thing - sure would like to see your work.

Bring it by the house - on the other side of town!

Bill, I confirmed my email. Send away.
I really want to come by and see you. Just thought I'd wait until after Christmas since it's usually a busy time for family visits.
Maybe one evening next week if that's ok with you?

Larry
