removing old epoxy from graphite

I am re-positioning guides. I measured incorrectly on the first rod I built. Upon removing the old guides, I find some two-part epoxy residue. What can I do to remove it without damaging the finish on my rod? Thanks.

Gene , try a hair dryer and a plastic knife . Also try a search on "removing epoxy". Just click the search button and type in your inquerey , keep it simple, a couple of words. For now the hair dryer and knife will get you going. Don't use a metal knife!. JD

Gene - Before you do much of anything else, and while you are waiting for more replies, read these articles for more background.

Gene - take John Dow's advice and run with it. If it does the trick, touch-down, game-over. You can read the articles later.

A sanded popsicle stick is soft and should help with the heat. Your thumb nail also

Gene,

Thought you might take a look at my note in this 'forum' at:
' Refinishing a Rod.'

I am a believer in the adverse effect of heat; hence recommend some caution.

Good luck,
Bob
