Another finish option??

Earlier on this site someone mentioned using Future Floor Polish as a color preserver. I bought a bottle, a quart I think and began trying it. I didn't have great results and went back to gudebrod 811.

So I have this bottle of Future around decided to try it on a rod wrap as a finish. I put 811 color preserver on the thread and let it dry. Then began adding coats of Future over that. I'm up to about 5 and it looks pretty darn good! Almost like epoxy.

I have no idea if it would hold up or last, but I assume it's a type of plastic when dry so maybe it's one more alternative to the standard finish types we use. I'm going to do an entire set of guides with it on an old rod I'm refurbing and will post the results once the rod has seen some use.

If nothing else, it ought to stand up to tough scuffs and heel marks.

Good idea Bill, it will more than likely work on out-doors as well as in-doors...
