This might be a dumb question to most of you out there. Since I'm new to rod building maybe not. How do you tell the difference from a graphite rod or a fiberglass rod if it's not on the blank ? I have about 60 rods of different sizes and types some old and some not so old. An old timer gave them to me and he wasn't to sure either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have generally found that most older rods are fiberglass, which are usually really flexible compared to graphite. Take them to your local fly shop they will probably be able to tell you what they are. Re: graphite or fiberglass?

Your fiberglass & eglass rods will be more flexible, & also heavier in wght. Graphite shoul feel lighter when you hold them in your hands. This should be an easy way for the older rod blanks. I would guess that they fiberglass if they are older blanks. Tom W. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
