Has anyone built Dan Craft FT blanks with both wire and ceramic and what (if any) difference did you notice? Dan Craft himself told me that ceramic guides would make any FT blank perform as a blank one line weight lower and that for blanks 7 weight and above, a person should use wire guides. Every opinion on this board that I have read has the opposite opinion. My application is throwing

Building up a 9' #5 fly rod and want the best possible guides. Ceramics seem heavy to me. Am I wrong? Snakes may wear or groove over some time. Again, am I wrong about this? Was thinking that the Recoil fly guides might give the best all around performance due to low weight and non grooving properties. Don't like the high cost but what else is out there that gives the best of all worlds?

I have searched high and low on the Pac Bay website but other than a mention of the fact that the are available I cannot seem to find anything that lists model numbers or frame/ring combinations and colors. Does anyone here have any information or a link to a site there that would show the available types and model numbers?

Hey all, I'd like to find some white guides for my next build. I've been doing some searching but no luck thus far. I'm painting a Forecast RX7 IP840 crappie rod white and didn't want to use the black guides. I guess I could use a chrome or brushed metal type of color but first wanted to check on the availability of white guides. I remember seeing something about powder coating or painting

Just wondering if anyone saw Pac Bay Minima guides at the show. I have some and like the looks of them, but am not sold that they will hold up with braided lines. If you got a chance to look them over, what do you think? Thanks, Marc

I plan on trying the pac bay minima reel seat of the casting variety on an upcoming project for a customer but, I am trying to decide between some wicked american tackle guides and the pac bay minima guides that I have seen advertised in Rodmaker Magazine, but I cannot find anybody that sells them. Are they even available yet? Does anyone know where I can get them or when they will be available?

Has anyone had a chance to fish the Pac bay Minima spinning reel seat? Is it comfortable for all day use? Any other suggestions for a split spinning seat?

Just got my scale in from Harbor Freight, and weighed some guides. The single foot size 6 fly guide weighed exactly the same as the Hialloy ceramic version - 0.2 g, so no real savings to be had here. The up side is they will be available down to size 4's, the design looks like it would be near impossible to pop a ring, and the black frame/gold ring is really sharp. Still really worth a l

After 17 years of building with the "feels good to me" technique, I'd like to get an affordable scale to weigh rod parts. As soon as I do I'll post some numbers on the Pac Bay Minima guides. Any recomendations? Thanks, Marc

I just got a sample of the new Pac Bay Minima guides. The are similar to the Berkley SS304's, but I would say appear to be better quality fit and finish wise, and are available with black frames/TiN Gold rings, and a silverish?? frame/TiCH ring that I have seen. They are very light (sorry no weights yet), and available in quite a few styles including SF Fly and M Style spinning. My one que

The unorganized group of M&M (Micro Maniacs) submits Volume 1 of Friday ____ for your evaluation and participation. Steve Gardner started this with an article published in Rodmaker Magazine on Micro Guides. Bobby Feazel succuessfully marketed the custom Micro Rods to tournament bass fishermen. Several custom rodbuilders participated in submitting a follow up article in the last issu

I am just a hobby builder. I have built a few rods mostly for my brothers, relatives and a few friends. A neighbor has seen one of the rods I built for a friend and has asked me to build a nice crappie rod to be used as a special gift to a person retiring. I know there may be a million different opinions but I am willing to consider them all. What is a good blank to use for a crappie rod? Wha
