If the rods are in a tackle shop and was not build to a specific customer they are not custom.
For me a custom rod must have a client associated. How can i build a custom rod if i dont know the client needs, the favorite colours or favorite soccer team or if he wants a special image on is rod?
Just the way i see custom rodbuilding.

If you are looking for a 4,20m or 4,50m rod in three pieces its not easy to find. I only found those in Europe from Veret(Italy) and WFT(Germany).
The rest come from Asia.

If you want to have a rod that flows all together from the but to the tip top you should start to combine the components colors. If you have titanium guides why not a reel seat with the same color?
In a cooper blank you can use pearl, metallic orange, gold, brown or any other color that you like if the rod is for you. The purpose of custom rods its not to obey to the existing color scheme. Make

I always apply CP over metallic thread.
Don't need to but i hate fish eyes and time to time they appear so to prevent that i apply CP.

I do the same as said above only with a small difference, i use a hand saw because i have more control in the cut.

682. Re: Custom or not?
Custom rods must be unique. If i make two equal rods for different clients and put their names on it, they are not custom. They are just handcrafted rods.
Just my thoughts about this.

In Portugal we use that kind of rod but to boat fishing. That way you can use the same rod with two different sizes. The competition guys like them, they have a 4,00m rod and then have another element that can make a 4,50m rod.
Personally don't like it. Adding that part generally disequilibrate the rod. Completely.

I use shrinking tube in my surf rods.
And gives you the possibility to ad what ever you want under it to shape the grip.
