Another solution will be to extend the wrap to the other side of the ring. Aesthetically will give a better look to the rod and its the end of this kind of problems. I do it this way. Going to post a photo in here with an example.

What Tom says fits perfectly with what happens with the kind of pigment used in this situation and for strange that it sounds some colors of this pigment take more time to cure than others. Let it cure for a few more days and than apply other coat of finish.

I use Pro Kote High build and i only do two things: i warm a little the two components separated and than mix them and when i transfer it to a foil and if i have bubbles i apply heat from under the foil not directly to the finish. That will make the bubbles came to the surface and just need a small blow with the heat gun directly to the finish. Hope this can help you.

If you want 11´try the American Tackle ATX Surf in medium and heavy power. I use them for a long time with zero problems.

Usually i use split grips on slow pitch rods just because of the weight. The slow pitch rod its supposed to be a light rod that will make most of the fisherman work to animate the bait so split grip its more adequate to that function and if you observe the way you work with the rod theres no need to make a full grip. But as always in custom rodbuilding its not a rule.

Did you use color preserver? If yes its possible that he was not dry enough and makes that blue look on the thread.

Custom rod building it’s a form of art that uses science to achieve its goals. Personally i try to use science in small doses in my builds. I just use it on the technical issues that implies with the performance and in what the client needs. The decorative part i just let my inspiration and imagination do all the work. If you rationalize it to much will be no place for art and you will be ju

Chuck, If you build over hundred MHX you are not a novice so you must know how to see the diference between blanks. Buy a Bushido and compare it to the other blanks that you know and take your own conclusions. Its the best and more honest way to advice in a proper way your client. Abraço Nuno

I usually make big decals so always make a wrap over the edges of the decal and use CP to prevent any problems. Never have a lifting problem. Abraço Nuno
