331. Re: Thread
Sulky thread metallic comes in several variegated type thread or multicolor. Try calling fabric and sewing stores in your area. Look up Sulky on internet--I think the website has colors shown.

HI
Well I finally figured out why I could not view Andy Dears' pictures after he sent me the one I could not see. The view of the burnt cork did have the appearance of solid brown not mottled. The netzero pop-up filter block the second picure on the web page. After 20 or so returns to the page I finally got the second pic by allowing pop-ups from Andy. No wonder my comments appear weird when

Please explain the differences between the various "cork" used for handles. The burnt cork illustrated in Clemens book does not appear to be the same as the burnt cork shown on Andy Dear's website. How is the burnt cork made? How does burnt cork differ from cork burl. How is cork "dyed". I am under the impression that it cannnot be effectively dyed.

When you are at Walmart check out the tools section for a set of metal picks--stanley etc.

336. Aftco Finish
I am still experimenting with a long term finish choice. Who carries Aftco finish? I tried the website but could not get anywhere. If you care to chime in about finishes you use please do so.
thanks

337. Re: Unusual Site
I think this site is great. I only wish I had found it before I built my first rod. I know I could have saved myself a lot of grief and anxiety over ordering components. It is nice to get a "little hand holding" when you run into a problem instead of pannicking like I have on occassion. I guess the site can be a surrogate rod builders' mom. thanks

I used and REC tip top in a 3 wt I built for my son. I thought that it lacked a bit of "cosmetics." In fact I thought it was just a little on the big side, but I stuck with it because all of the guides were recoil. Now I am building three more rods so I am looking for more ideas. Since I need to order more guides, I want to get it all at once if I need another top.
thanks

What would be better for 2 or 3 wt fly rod using 7x tippet--a titanium carbide regular fly loop or a ceramic tip top 6mm or 7mm?
thanks
