Dr. Statement, "I have a rod sold as a spinning rod with a CCF freqency of 95 cpm. I also use this rod for fly fishing. When I use it for fly fishing, I use a line which reduces the frequency of my fishing outfit to about 85 cpm." Mr. Emory Statement," You may think that adding mass to a fly rod in order to achieve your PPF is improving the rods performance but my opinion is tha

Tom, I think Dr. Hanneman and Mr. Emory are talking about the same thing. However, Dr. Hanneman uses line weight to control the mass. Using lead to controls the frequency is a great idea. What do you think of using soldering lead ? Hmm, I'll look in to this... Worth the time and effort. Ben

Speeds of Grandma, Grandpa, Adult, Teenager and Infant. Feel - Happy, Excited, Mad and Sad.. This is what Jr. learned in school. Gentlemen, Last night I went to the local golf shop again. This time, however; I build my raw rod on this special machine. Discovering that I can tweak the frequency while placing the guides on one at a time was facinating. Yes, the frequency can be alter dynamicly. I think this is something that worth looking at. Yes, you do not need this machine and yes it is working with Dr. Hanneman

Peter, If you read "Why I hate" thread, you would understand that your customer has a mind of it own. Yes, I would go to another custom rod builder to get a second opinion. If you both using the same gadgets to measure & build, I think you would have the confident to assure him that it as what he ask for. Ben

Mitch is using 17lb mono line with various guides configuration and achieved distant over 100+ ft. It will be interesting to see what the result would be if Mitch would be using lighter and heavier line. This would give us more data to look at. Ben

Gentlemen, I went to a custom golf shop last night and there are gadgets that makes frequency reading much fine tuned. It can be read in CPM or in finer resolution in HertZ. They also have MOI machine that measures moment of inertia. I invite you to visit your local custom golf shop and bring your rod with you and ask for a demo. Ben

Follow up on my story. Yes, the president of the compay paid this foreign country $50,000.50 dollars for fixing his bread making scanner. Of course, he has three inhouse overated engineers with blue prints and schematics of the scanner (I know, I worked there). Dr. Bill, I appologize if i sounded too what you think I sounded. I am learning and your second post today kinda give me a new li

The day of satellite transmissions was the state of art, a company transmitting their newspaper veloxes via satellite (domestic)- their scanner went down. They called the maker of the scanner from abc country to fix it. The tech spent 5 minutes diagnosed the problem, fixed it and went home. The president of the company received a $50,000.50 invoice. puzzled and ask why were they billed so hi

Gentlemen, Would you take your sick child to a Vet ? Every fields has it own diciplines. One studied on one field does not classified him as the author of another. In my opinion, Dr. Hannenman needs to review the work that he posted. It is inconsistant to what he preaches. my 2 cents. Ben

Bob, Wow !, you are not doing us any good by not educating him. You should ask him to learn from the first build, get more blanks and more supplies from vendors to the left here, and then builds second and third until he is satisfied. Ben

Dr. Bill, You stated: My point is that merely the knowing the resonant frequency of a rod blank is of little or no value to the common angler. I’m still waiting for someone to tell me what I can do with that number. Would it an advantage to cast further (distant wise) if you know the Resonant Frequency of one rod over the other and factor in the amount of weight you are casting ? Say in

I got these terms definition (below) from a golf website. Hope it will help when we reads the tech notes. I am not affiliated with CSFA or anyone else on these board. Manufacturers typically categorize shafts by regular, ladies, senior, firm, stiff and extra stiff flex. Frequency -

Emory, For the Love Of Learning, is it : Vibration=Square Root of Stiffness / Mass ? I think we can use our computer with a soundcard and a microphone to records or measures resonance frequency, is it possible ? Thanks Ben

Emory, LOL ! would the frequency be differ if you tested on granite rather than concrete floor ? Just curious. Anyhow, it was fun and educational to read on NFC website. I think Gary's idea of using this device for creating his rod is "genius". Thanks again ! Ben

A heat gun and a small Lowe temperature sensor is all i used. These shrink tube also comes in PVC - clear (like water-transparent) or various colors. These are high temperature material - No UV effect.. I put on a layers of it and applied 2 coat of FC. I'm eager to tested on live fish tomorrow. Steven, Can't seem to locate my cam when I need it.
