I've made several rods on these blanks and they are GREAT! I pulled in a 30lb boat anchor with one a few weekends ago. These are some great blanks for the money. Plus, you can make them look a lot better than any ugly stick. JMHO. If you have any other questions email me at sanders43@live.com

I've got a lady who is wanting me to build her husband a rod as a surprise. He's a huge NASCAR fan and she thought that would be a good decal for the rod. Does anyone know where I can find some driver decals?

Has anyone ever used these. I'm thinking about buying one in 7' for catfishing. Any suggestions?

Ken, That sounds like something I'd be interested in. Do you have any info on where I could find something like that?

What kind of reflective tape? I think that would look pretty cool. Also, could you email me the pictures? I'd love to have a reference. Thanks

My father is wanting me to build him a rod for catfishing. It will primarily a night fishing rod and he is wanting something very visible. Does anyone make glow in the dark guides? Or is it just wishful thinking?

I'm wanting to build a power wrapper since I can't afford to dish out the $300 or so for one. I've searched on here a bit and I haven't been able to find any plans for building your own. Does anyone have plans for one that they would want to share? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the input guys. The rods I was considering were some 2 pc 14 ft bigwater blanks by cui. I'll definitely leave them 2 pc if i get them . Thanks again for the help.

There are some longer rods that I want but I don't want to fork over the ridiculous shipping charges. Or are the two piece rods just as sturdy?

Is it possible to epoxy a 2 pc rod and make it 1 pc or is this out of the question?

Anyone have any experience with these blanks? I'm thinking about buying a few and I was wondering if they would make a decent walleye rod. I'm wanting something with a fast tip. I know that these are listed as moderate, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

I've only built 5 rods, but I've been made a believer of the spiral wrap. I've made two rods specifically for bottom fishing for catfish and I wouldn't trade those for any store bought rod. With the spiral wrap even if I'm fighting a fish in heavy current its just as smooth as if I were reeling in an empty hook. I love it and several other people I know are wanting me to build them a rod with &q

I bought the flex coat all in one kit and it was very helpful. I've only been doing this a few months and have built 5 rods with the flex coat kit. I just had to order some more supplies and I'm working on my 6th rod. Just my two cents.

I'm needing a reasonably priced 9-10 ft crappie rod for a friend. Any suggestions? Also, he's wanting a Tennessee handle and I've never done one of those, any pointers? Thanks

I recently built a split grip rod. Anyways, I used some cork pieces that had kind of a recessed area on the end that I am going to wrap over. I was told that you should use a coat of finish in the recessed area so it would make it easier to maneuver the thread around in. Anyways, I put a coat of Flex Coat Hi Build finish down about a week ago, and it is still sticky. It's completely dry, but it's

Welcome to the club. Once you get that first rod completed it only gets worse. I've only been doing this for a few months and I'm absolutely addicted. Good luck!

That's awesome Tom. I've only got 5 rods under my belt so I'm still a newbie. But your first book helped me tremendously with my first 2 or 3 rods. I can't wait to see the new book! Oh, and this is probably getting a little old, but when is the newest issue of RM going to be mailed out?

I've got a guy that's wanting me to build him a 6' mh walleye rod. He's wanting something that has some play in the tip, but still has some good backbone. He's also wanting to keep the price reasonably low. Any suggestions would be great.

CUI makes a heavy duty blank that is one piece all the way up to 17 feet I believe. Bingham enterprises on the left carries them.

Buzz, thanks for the info. I'll have to start checking into that. The only problem I foresee is that we are a very small, rural community and we really don't have any civic organizations in our community. But I'll definitely start checking into that, because a lot of the students at my school have expressed interest in building their own rod.

Yeah me too. I've thought about trying to offer a rod building class like that in the summer, the only problem would be coming up with all the equipment.

If I get to the point where I can sell my rods, I will probably get a business license. However at this point I'm only building rods for gifts and personal use. Plus I don't want to have the hassle of dealing with the taxes that come along with having a business license. Anyways, thanks for the information.

I've been wanting to order a couple Sumo Blanks from CUI Rod blanks. Only problem is they won't sell to me because I'm not a business. Is there anyone that would be kind enough to be the middle man and order these for me in the future?

That's awesome. I teach special education and I've got a student who wants to build his own rod. I've told him that we can probably do it, its just a matter of finding something he can afford to build. The school won't spring for the cost so it's up to him and his parents. I'd love to buy the stuff for him, but with times the way they are I just couldn't afford it right now. Are there any places

Ok, I just bought a 13' surf rod that I'm wanting to build a catfish rod to use at the dam. I'm wanting to make it with a para cord handle, and that's about all I know. What would you guys suggest. It's a 13' heavy sumo blank. What kind of butt cap would you guys use?
