the snake skin shop has many and has had a booth at the ICRBE for years. great people to work with. otherwise most leather shops can help or you can skin and tan your own.

Try looking at some flytying materials. Many of that type of braid is still used in fly tying and not marketed for rodbuilding, but works fine for decorative wraps

Bill that should be fine. If he is using braid you could go with a 20 or maybe a 16. Why not use the microwave? they would work well too look at the M frame guides for the height

take a look at some of the 8ft popping blanks. a moderate popping blank will be fast and should work good for what you are trying to accomplish the castaway 963 makes a very nice one piece fast and powerful 8wt

Robert the length of the rod should have no significance on the guide set up except adding more guides. Place the butt guide and choke it down using 2-3 transition guides and then run the same sized guides to the tip.

I would look at the amtak set up as a reference and get to your choke point in a few guides then out to the tip with same size guide just like NGC. you will want tall frame guides for your transition guides and can probably use M frame or maybe Y

Nice work. If you do get concerned about the weight you can core it, but not necessary unless the weight is excessive.

minima guides. you should be able to use size 5 and maybe 4 depending on your knots. you can use double foots for the first two, but not necessary.

those look like abalone over a core then topcoated. the team ones are painted with decals. there are some acrylics that will give a similar look but not usually as brilliant as the abalone. the ones ken refers to that i did are set in a polyester resin and turned not coated with finish.
i wonder what they are trying to patent. they look like a variation of grips that have been done by many b

115. Re: UV Resin
I have no doubt that something out there exists for our application. Many thanks to Ken for spending the time and effort to try to find something. I have talked to him about this and one of his biggest hurdles is speaking to the manufacturers in a language that they understand and we still do too. i still hold out hope that something will come out of his efforts. thanks Ken

it sounds possibly like some type of contamination if the epoxy is not acting as it should. or do you mean the abalone is cracked?

118. Re: UV Resin
it is a uv cure finish. Cork4u has had it at the ICRBE for several years. they are great for repairs or as whole rod as you coat it and it cures in a few seconds. they have a newer version of their resin that i haven't had a chance to try yet. Just one of the things that can be seen at the ICRBE
