I see what you're saying. I think that article said the swimbait rod was still a prototype so I'm betting he was using his previous sponsors rod with that technique.
I'm not a Velvick fan so I don't keep up with him but didn't he just take up e21 for sponsorship recently? If so that's pretty quick turn around and imo says something about his character.

He may not have on tv. I'm betting sometime throughout the week he did though. It's doubtful he just signed them on never fishing them. Didn't he win that on swimbaits?

I think I know which article you are referring to. I think you need to reread it carefully.

Is their any reason a guy can't put these on over a couple coats of finish?
Problem solved on the font thing. I emailed the word documents with different fonts to a friend to print.

45. decal font size
Is their a safe all around font size for decals? These will be going on average bass rods. I will be using the Edwardian script font and maybe the chiller font.

I can't see it either, and it won't let me log in on the picture page.

Thanks all for the facts and opinions.
I've never really used a real deal flipping rod and kinda thought that would be one of my projects down the road.
I know that mod-fast action blanks do not agree with me when I'm pitching. I have a hard time keeping the lure close to the water and keeping it from lifting during the "flight". I can see (thanks to the posts above) that you don't

Could you flippers explain why most flipping blanks are a moderate action?
I pitch 90% of the time and I prefer a fast-extra fast action rod as it seems most do. To me it seems you would also want that in a flipping blank too. The only thing that has come to me is that most people use braid when flipping.

What about durability issues between the two materials? I've heard that Fuji's in micro sizes aren't as durable with stainless frames compared to Batson's. I wonder if the ti frames would remedy this. Again I'm just going off of someone else's opinion.

I think I'm going to use a 5'6" mudhole custom builder blank. I might end up with the 6' to just in case the 5'6" is to light on power.

I do have that back issue and thought it was a great, very interesting article. I'm sure you're right that he can handle a 1" grip fine and he won't really out grow it.
My hope was to make a scaled down adult sized rod. What I'll do is let him cast with one of mine in the back yard for a while and see how he does. I'm very close to buying him his own baitcaster because of the poor marke

55. Reel seat dia.
I was wondering what the smallest o.d. casting exposed reel seat is. I'm trying to get pieces together for my 4yo sons casting rod. Obviously his hands are small and I want the cork to be small enough for him.
I doubt he would notice the difference between the acs (which is what I wish I could use) and a smaller one but surely it would help.
Thanks guys.

William,
I actually thought about home anodizing. The problem for me is space. I've just got a 3br 2ba home with according to today's standards is a 2 car garage. It's more like two parking spaces with walls and a roof. With my tools, rod building etc, a motorcycle and all the crap my wife and kids contributed space is tight.
The other thing is the non working population around here think m
