Tony, Since you are asking a VERY specific OBJECTIVE question you will need objective data, not marketing poop, blah... Ask the manufactures to offer the "Vickers Hardness" rating. This information should make your answer very clear. It my understanding that Fuji SiC has a rating of 2200 - 2400, and the Zirconium made by Batson is rated at 1500, that is according to Batson.

Robert, Ray, & Kevin - Thank you for your gracious Southern Hospitality. Great service is a low bar to hurdle in my book, it's expected, albeit a reciprocating polite way! Robert, Ray, & Kevin opened the doors to FishSticks for my friend Bob and I. During the holidays I decided to take the 5+ hour trip for some purchases. I put this visit off for months, reluctant to impose on an

I'm looking for suggestions on building a King Mackerel rod and would like some recommendations from experienced builders and SKA Fisherman. I'm inclined to use the Fuji soft-touch reel seat and sic titanium guides, a 7ft or 7 1/2ft CTS blank using 17lb - 20lb test line. I'm considering the new graphite handle described in current issue of RM, (thanks Tom and others with input) as I assume cork

Marty & all, I've purchased these "empty" cans at Lowes or HD, forgot which! It was 7 years ago and not sure if they still carry, but they had plenty in all the sizes from one pint to one gallon. Exactly what you see in the above sks link. ~Mark

It's smart to ask for good feedback and thankfully this forum is available and has provided just that! Personally, if it were my site, I would want it to be a reflection of my personality and commitment to the craft. I can go anywhere on the net and find data. Take all the advise offered, reject it or mold it to your personality. BE YOURSELF AND THE LAST JUDGE OF WHATS RIGHT OR

Jim, please tell me your book is the same quality as your weaving? As a consumer, I look for the following. 1. Hardback with good binding 2. Quality paper and professional printing 3. (After the fact) the ideas and the flow of information And of course the content, but that is an assumption with you! Hopefully you will have a professional technical writer REVIEW the material befo

Check with the Habitat for Humanity, they have re-sell stores in each community wherein you can find used/new counter tops, cabinets, and everything you can think of that goes into houses. Fair to cheap prices. ~Mark

I tend to store magazines, studies, proposals, presentations, research, and monthly financial statements; purchase a three ring hole puncher at Office Depot and a three ring binder large enough for 6 issues. The larger ones will probably hold 12 issues, and many of you may already have old useless three ring binders hanging around the office/home, recycle! Purchase a hole puncher with a

www.openoffice.org One negative, it does not provide a contact management program, (Outlook). Other than that, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint is better than Microsoft Office. Absolutely no problems, try it. You can actually run Open Office and Microsoft Office until your comfortable it will work for you! Excel will convert to the Open Office spreadsheet, so if one of your friends

Paul, I will help you the best I can, I have not built one of these rods either, but this is what I would do! If you read some of these threads on the first two pages you will find most of the information your looking for, directly or indirectly. Guides, rod, and threads. The first two or three pages should give you a better handle on your project. Then, I would talk with a vendo

Bill Do some research thru B.A.S.S. and the likes, I'd be surprised that one of the Pro Bass organizations wouldn't have any useful data you can use to speed up your testing results. ~Mark

OK, thanks to all who politely corrected my stance. I was thinking more along the lines of "Wizard of Oz" and high altitude fishing with an inflated rod. No technical limits and a dose of humor. There are so many things in our lives today that where deemed "technically impossible" in the past. 1910, forgot his name, the head of the patten office wrote a letter

Thanks to all, I modeled mine searching the photos of all on this forum as well as the feed back. Mike, Bill, and Jay, I like your layout, but i decided to place mine horizontally, like Jay's. I figured out some more clues. My problems seem to be with large spools. There is some play between the washer and the larger bottom hole of the spool. As the spool turns the washer plays tur

I have built a tension device binding the spool with the following details. all thread rod metal washer nylon washer spool nylon washer metal washer spring metal washer nut I'm having problems with the spool increasing tension as I spool the thread off. Put another way: Once tension is set and I begin pulling thread off, the spool begins riding up/toward the spring, thus in

A friend of mine is using it to cover his guide threads instead of epoxy and has used it for some time with success. Currently I am using TM and I'm OK with that product, but I'm not that "sold" on the high build and other hassles. Per Tom and other previous suggestions on other threads, I have applied thinner coats to my preference. I'm wondering if there is a alternative that
